|
The Rotary Club of Plainfield-North Plainfield 7th Annual Wine Tasting Dinner Was Held Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005 Giovanna’s 1462 South Avenue, Plainfield, N.J. Thank you to all who supported this fund raiser. The funds raised are given away in the form of college scholarships to graduating students from Plainfield and North Plainfield. This year was a win-win. We had a lot of fun and met our goal for the project. Looking forward to next year.
Rotary Centennial Project
Each of Rotary International's 31,000 clubs
throughout the world were asked to undertake a local project to commemorate
Rotary's 100th birthday. Our club undertook a project to provide benches for
the plaza area across from North Plainfield's Borough Hall.
Two benches, made of recycled plastic and wood
were recently installed at the plaza. Each bears a bronze plaque celebrating
Rotary International's centennial, while at the same time pointing users
toward this website, where they have the opportunity to learn more about
Rotary.
For more information about the Rotary Centennial,
go to www.rotary.org/centennial.
The Rotary received a Proclamation and a Resolution as appreciation from the North Plainfield Mayor and Council.

Community Blood Drive Give the Gift of Life…
From left Mayor Janice G. Allen, Fire Chief Bill Eaton, Rotary President, and Executive Director of the American Red Cross Trish Mulligan, Police Chief William G. Parenti and Linda Persichino from Valley National Bank. The Club’s First Annual Blood Drive was a great, successful event on December 8, 2004, with donors crowding the New Jersey Blood Services Mobile Donor Center at the Valley National Bank to “give the gift of life”. In a friendly competition among emergency services, the fire and police departments in Plainfield and North Plainfield brought out their supporters to see who would have the most donors at the Blood Drive and win a life-saving automatic external defibrillator, donated by Valley National Bank. Pictured above are North Plainfield officials, receiving the AED from American Red Cross executive director and Club president Patricia Mulligan and Linda Persichino, club member and manager of the Valley National branch at Rock Avenue and Route 22 in North Plainfield. Missed this Blood Drive? Don’t wait for our 2nd Annual Drive to “give the gift of life”. Contact New Jersey Blood Services through the New York Blood Center at http://nybc.ny.avatartechnology.com/framesets/FS-1B.htm and find a drive near you.
